SANBORN ACTIVITY CENTER DIRECTOR

Salary: $51,480 - $68,120 DOQ
Position Type: Full-Time Hours: 40 hrs/week
Position Summary:
- The Sanborn Events Center Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the event center's operations, including facility management, event planning and execution, marketing, staff supervision, and community engagement. This position plays a key leadership role in ensuring high-quality events and programs that serve the DeLand community while maintaining strong partnerships with public and private organizations. The individual in this role will also be responsible for managing activities, coordinating private and public event rentals, and implementing effective marketing strategies. Additionally, the Sanborn Events Center Director is responsible for events and rentals at Earl Brown Park and in the DeLand Amphitheater.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facility & Staff Management:
- Oversee the daily operations of the Sanborn Events Center, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
- Manage facility staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
- Maintain the master event calendar to coordinate bookings, events, and programs efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures established by the DeLand Parks and Recreation Department.
- Develop and enforce operational guidelines to maximize facility usage and efficiency.
Event Planning & Execution:
- Create, implement, produce, and manage large-scale community events and festivals.
- Assist with private and public event rentals, ensuring smooth coordination and execution.
- Collaborate with event organizers, vendors, sponsors, and community partners to deliver high-quality experiences.
- Develop event budgets and ensure financial accountability for each program or event.
- Secure necessary permits, insurance, and compliance with safety regulations.
- Monitor event success through feedback, reporting, and post-event evaluations.
Community Activities & Programs:
- Develop and oversee engaging activities and programs for the citizens of DeLand.
- Coordinate resources and partnerships to provide recreational, educational, and social programs.
- Work with community organizations to enhance and expand activities and programming opportunities.
Marketing & Community Engagement:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy for the facility, events, and programs.
- Manage promotional campaigns, social media, and public relations efforts to increase community engagement.
- Establish partnerships with local businesses, media outlets, and community organizations to enhance visibility.
- Oversee the creation of promotional materials, including brochures, flyers, press releases, and digital content.
- Represent the Sanborn Events Center and the DeLand Parks and Recreation Department at public meetings and events.
Customer Service & Relationship Management:
- Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring a positive experience for event hosts and attendees.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with community members, vendors, and sponsors to foster collaboration.
- Address and resolve customer concerns, ensuring a high level of satisfaction.
- Develop sponsorship and fundraising opportunities to support and expand event programming.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Recreation, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in event management, facility management, customer service, or a related role.
- Strong leadership and staff management experience.
- Experience in budgeting and financial planning, along with knowledge in event logistics, projecting and forecasting, and project management. With a proven track record in developing activities, programs, and event concepts and successfully executing them from inception to completion.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, event management software, and social media platforms.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Preferred:
- Experience in municipal or community-based event planning.
- Knowledge of local government policies, regulations, and permitting processes.
- Familiarity with programming and community engagement strategies.
REASONING ABILITY
