Under the immediate supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, and the general direction of the Recreation Superintendent, the Assistant Aquatics Director assures that the pool facility and recreational swimming programs are operated in the safest, most effective, and efficient manner possible for all patrons.?The position also ensures a high level of customer service is maintained for all patrons. The Assistant Aquatics Director is responsible for supervision of the Lifeguards, Crew Chiefs, and Cashiers while on duty. The position requires evening and weekend hours.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : For purposes of 42 USC 12101
- Supervises daily operation and maintenance of pool facility and equipment
- Monitors and maintains pool chemistry to ensure compliance with the Ohio Swimming Pool Code.
- Assists management team with recruitment of staff.
- Schedules managers, lifeguards and pool office staff to ensure proper staffing levels.
- Supervises and evaluates pool staff and makes recommendations to the Recreation Program Superintendent regarding employment, reemployment or dismissal. ?
- Supervises general swimming and program activities.
- Strives to maintain positive interactions with the staff and pool patrons.
- Coordinates staff in-service training.
- Supervises special event programs held at the Jack Florence Pool.
- Assists the Recreation Program Superintendent in establishing policies, procedures and safety rules for pool staff and patrons.
- Enforces and follows policies and procedures that ensure the safe, effective and efficient operation of the pool facility.
- Prepares, maintains and submits records including, but not limited to, daily operations, water testing, pool equipment inspections, in-service training, accidents, rescues, and biohazard incidents.
- Follows all established business and accounting procedures regarding the handling or transfer of monies, requisitions, and purchases of supplies and equipment.
- Responsible for verifying and securing change fund and all daily receipts.
- Assists Recreation Program Superintendent with preseason facility startup and end of season facility closing operations.
- Oversees and maintains inventory of pool chemicals, facility equipment and cleaning, office and maintenance supplies
- Performs all other duties as assigned by Recreation Program Superintendent or Parks & Natural Resources Director.
