Under the immediate supervision of the Assistant Police Chief, the part-time Parking Control Officer is responsible for enforcing parking regulations in the downtown area in order to provide parking turnover and safety. This position is responsible for exercising sound judgment and continually working toward achieving the best possible relationship between the City and the public. Position requires regular and reliable attendance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : For purposes of 42 USC 12101
- Checks free and metered parking areas in a rotation for violations.
- Collects money from parking meters.
- Enforces all parking regulations in the City by means of both vehicular and foot patrol including monitoring parking meters and parking in general.
- Picks up and delivers mail to and from City Hall and Courthouses.
- Gives testimonies in court occasionally if needed.
- Prepares reports and observes the general State of Ohio and City's parking enforcement strategy and makes recommendations for change.
- Represents the City of Delaware by demonstrating a positive attitude and progressive actions through the display of professionalism, courtesy and appropriate tact and discretion in all interactions with other employees and the public.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
