This is technical work observing and monitoring private contractors doing City projects to meet with City standards. Work is performed under general supervision.
Essential Job Duties
- Observe construction in progress.
- Drive to and from job sites.
- Prepare daily progress reports.
- Read construction plans.
- Approve material shop drawings.
- Maintain files and records pertaining to projects.
- Verify payments to contractors.
- Fosters positive employee relations and employee morale on a City-wide basis.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
- Five (5) years experience in civil construction field.
- Two (2) years experience in office procedures.
- Experience in drafting, design, surveying, construction and utility inspections, supervision and engineering.
- Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License and clean driving record.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear, use hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with both hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stand, bend and drive. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Works inside and works outside in various weather conditions with noise, dust and uneven surfaces. Works in or with moving vehicles. Works below ground level.
