What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parks Municipal Service Worker position at City of Delta?
SUMMARY
Under direct supervision, of the Parks Manager, performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor in the construction and maintenance of buildings, parks, cemeteries, and other public facilities to enhance the community experience while using the City properties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assists higher level workers in various maintenance, repair and construction work;
- may work alone.
- Plows, sands, removes snow and ice.
- Erect and maintain signs, barricades, bollards, and decorations.
- Plants and trims trees and shrubs.
- Mows and sprays weeds.
- Installs and maintains irrigation systems.
- Mows grounds; winterizes sprinkler systems.
- Cleans parks.
- Maintains restrooms.
- Constructs playground equipment.
- Performs building maintenance work
- Cleans and services equipment.
- Trains in operating equipment.
- Assists other departments.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Some knowledge of maintenance of parks, cemeteries and facilities.
- Learn the operation and maintenance of trucks and light equipment safely.
- Talk and hear in person and by radio.
- Get along well with other workers, supervisors and public.
- Possess a valid Colorado Commercial Driver’s License (Class B with tanker validation) or must to obtain license within first six months of employment.
- Will be required to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Any combination of training and experience equivalent to graduation of high school with some experience as a laborer.
- Ability to see and read instructions and basic blueprints.
- Prepare reports and make repairs.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Proficient in English. Other languages helpful.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Basic math skills.
