DEFINITION
:

The purpose of this job/class within the organization is to maintain and repair city roads, right of way, and properties. This job/class works under close supervision according to set procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Not all-inclusive):

Maintains and prepares assigned vehicle; checks fluids, filters, remove trash, and loads equipment. Installs asphalt, concrete, sod, and other materials to repair city roads, right of ways, and properties. Removes trash and debris from roads, right of way, and properties. Mows and trims ponds, easements, right of ways, pump stations, and special detail areas. Assists in installing underground drainage pipe, rakes swales set up barricades and sweeps the road. Maintains decorative vegetation, plant trees, add mulch, and apply weed pesticides and herbicides.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent. A minimum of one (1) year of previous experience or training related to concrete, asphalt, landscaping, tree work, or sign/signalization is preferred.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

Requires a Class B commercial driver's license, with air brakes and tanker endorsement, with a valid DOT medical card required or must be obtained within six (6) months of hire. Must possess, and maintain, or be able to obtain within one (1) year of appointment to the position the following: a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Approved Intermediate MOT (Maintenance of Traffic) certification.

The position is subject to being "on call" and working after normal City work hours as well as on weekends and holidays.
