Under general supervision, ensures the safety of patrons of an aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Ensures the safety of customers at Waterloo Pool by visually scanning all areas of the facility, determining whether customers are in distress, performing in water rescues and / or assisting when necessary, providing first aid to customers when appropriate.
- Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
- Always presents professional appearance and attitude and maintains a high standard of customer service.
- Performs various cleaning and maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
- Prepares and maintains appropriate records and reports.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Performs the job in a safe manner and in compliance with policies, procedures, work and safety rules and the employee handbook.
- Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have or be pursuing a high school diploma/GED
- Must be at least 15 years old
- Current Lifeguard Certification including First Aid, CPR and AED
- Accomplished and demonstrable swimming abilities
- Good interpersonal and communication skills

- Frequent amounts of swimming, walking, standing and able to climb up and down the lifeguard stand.
- Ability to lift and/or carry objects ranging from 1-25 pounds
- Occasionally lift and/or carry objects ranging from 25-50 pounds
- Ability to remove a victim from the water with the assistance of other staff.
- Frequently required to bend, climb, reach above head or below shoulder level
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and inclement weather when required
- Must be prepared to engage with patrons to establish a positive experience at Waterloo Pool.
- Always in proper, presentable, approved uniform.
Salary : $11
