Responsible for instructing, inspiring, and motivating participates to improve their health and fitness-related behaviors through a series of movements and exercises.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
DUTIES
- Instruct aquatic or land group exercise classes to a wide variety of age groups/skill levels; assist in programming, as appropriate.
- Submit class outlines and workouts to leadership, as appropriate.
- Maintain current class records, including but not limited to, attendance, accident, and incident reports.
- Ensure the safety of class participants by adhering to center policies, procedures, and following guidelines set by program certifying agency, as appropriate; report safety concerns to leadership immediately, including but not limited to, participant behaviors, facility and/or equipment concerns.
- Assist with class coverage outside of regularly scheduled classes, as needed.
SUPERVISORY/BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES
- None.
- Red Cross or American Heart Association Adult CPR, AED & First Aid Certification designated timeframe outlined for program (online training is not valid); and,
- If Aquatics Instructor, One (1) year experience in swimming and/or completion of swim course, or related field,
- If Group Exercise Instructor, must have valid certification for specific group exercise format or nationally recognized Group Exercise Instructor Certification, or related and recognized certification,
- Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.

- Must provide proof of legally purchased music license for group exercise instruction.
- If Group Exercise Instructor, must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- If Group Exercise Instructor, must maintain valid certifications for course instruction, including continuing education subscriptions necessary to ensure certification validation.
- If Group Exercise Instructor, must maintain valid specialty certifications for the specific group exercise format or a nationally recognized Group Exercise Instructor Certification.
- Safety Sensitive (Subject to random drug testing): No.
- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals; and,
- If Group Exercise Instructor: Equipment includes but not limited to, portable stage, fitness sound system, battery pack transmitter, headset microphone, and equipment specific to exercise course taught.
- Posture:
- If Group Exercise Instructor: Frequent standing, stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
- Motion:
- If Group Exercise Instructor: Frequent repetitive hand motions and reaching.
- Lifting:
- If Group Exercise Instructor: Lifting no more than 50 pounds; carrying up to 25 pounds.
- Environment:
- If Group Exercise Instructor: Works primarily inside, minimal with exposure to sun, heat, cold and inclement weather, noise, chemicals, debris, odor, and rough terrain; occasionally requires irregular and/or prolonged hours.
- Travel: Travels to City of Denton buildings and professional meetings as required.
- Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position. Must be able to work overtime, evenings, weekends, or outside of normal business hours, as required.
- If Group Exercise Instructor, must be available fifteen (15) minutes before and after scheduled class for set-up/take-down of course equipment, and answer participant questions.

Salary : $20 - $35
