Hiring Range: $21.21 hour - $35.20/hour Depending on Qualifications
Pay Range: Minimum - Mid Point for Positions
Water Production Operator I: $21.21 - $27.58
Water Production Operator II: $23.39 - $30.41
Water Production Operator III: $24.55 - $31.92
Water Production Operator IV: $27.07 - $35.20
Responsible for assisting the Operator II in the treatment and production of potable water.Essential Functions:
- Collects and performs Water Quality Tests
- Performs calculations for chemical additions; fills and adjusts chemical feeder
- Performs custodial duties, such as sweep, mop, etc.
- Troubleshoots equipment and process control problems
- Assists Operator with maintaining SCADA to ensure proper water levels and system pressures
- Assists Operator with minor maintenance of feed pumps, instrumentation, etc.
- Drains sludge and backwashes filters
- Maintain regular and punctual on-site attendance
- Performs other duties as assigned
Water Production Operator I ORWater Production Operator II
Core Competencies:- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Grade "C" Surface Water Certification issued from TCEQ
- Two years' experience working as an operator in a Water Treatment Plant
- Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Grade "B" Surface Water Certification issued from TCEQ
- Four years of experience working as an operator in a 15 MGD or greater Water Treatment Plant
- Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Grade "A" Water Certification issued from TCEQ.
- Six years of experience working as an Operator in a 15 MGD or greater Water Treatment Plant.
- Computer literate with three years of water plant SCADA experience
- NOTE: Education equivalent to at least two years of college with specialization in water treatment, chemistry, engineering, science, or biology is acceptable for two years of experience
- Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to form and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and customers
- Preference will be given to candidates with Water Treatment experience and TCEQ certification
- Must have a valid Class "C" Driver's License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class "C" driver's license and state required minimum automobile liability insurance within 90 days of hire per state law)
- Must pass a drug test, driver's license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check
- Must pass a physical examination
- TCEQ Grade "D" Water License obtained within six months of employment
- TCEQ Grade "C" Water License obtained within three years of employment

Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids:
The essential functions of this position require the use of hand tools in order to perform minor maintenance on equipment and to perform custodial duties at the plant. Requires the use of protective equipment (i.e. protective breathing apparatus) for confined space entry for handling chemicals.
Environmental Factors:
The essential functions of this position are performed both inside and outside. While working outside, incumbents are exposed to various weather conditions. Incumbents are also exposed to noise, chemicals, fumes and dust associated with the operation of a Water Treatment Plant.
