What You’ll Do
As a Civil Engineer I or II, your responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing private project development and utility company permit plans to ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and standards.
- Determining applicable codes, regulations, and requirements for assigned projects.
- Assisting in the preparation of, or developing, engineering plans and specifications, coordinating required advertising for bids, and reviewing construction bids.
What We’re Looking For
We need someone who:
- Civil Engineer I: Holds a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution and has at least one year of civil engineering experience.
- Civil Engineer II: Has three years of progressively responsible civil engineering experience in conjunction with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Certifications:
- Civil Engineer I: Must be certified as an Engineer Intern in the State of Illinois or able to obtain certification within one year.
- Civil Engineer II: Must be a licensed Professional Engineer or able to obtain licensure within one year.
- Is knowledgeable in municipal civil engineering, including preparation of plans, designs, estimates, and specifications; surveying, inspection procedures, and methods; and State and local codes. Experience with GIS is a plus.
