The purpose of the position is to provide first line support to a work group or unit completing the construction, repair and maintenance of traffic signals and signs on streets and roadways. This is accomplished by instructing crews; completing traffic signal maintenance and repair; fabricating signs; preparing equipment for installation; installing and modifying signals; completing inspections; and preparing equipment for installation. Other duties include maintaining roadway lighting; conducting traffic counts and fabricating signage.
