Qualifications
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent and experience working with computers and handheld devices required; knowledge of library functions with six (6) months of library work experience desired. Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Publisher, or other graphic design software preferred.

Be physically able to operate various job-related office equipment, push book trucks, bend, reach library shelves, and lift up to 50 pounds. Able to stand for long periods.

- Greets patrons, answers questions, provides directions, and answers telephones
- Checks out items to patrons and checks in materials returned from patrons using integrated library software
- Helps patrons search for information and materials, and request materials from other libraries
- Handles money and credit card transactions for fines and fees
- Issues new library cards
- Provides technology assistance with internet access, e-mails, searching the online library catalog, eBooks, and other digital library materials.
- Provides help with faxing, scanning, and copying documents
- Keeps current on the latest published materials to offer reading suggestions
- Helps to keep periodicals organized and current
- Assists with library programming, promotion, displays, and outreach events
- Re-shelves library materials and helps maintain a clean and orderly collection.
- Demonstrates relevant knowledge of the library’s essential functions and processes
- Demonstrates commitment to Team Destin and our mission, vision, values, and goals, and represents the City in a professional manner
- Helps develop and accomplish library work plans and procedures
- Performs other related duties as assigned
