- Demonstrates commitment to Team Destin, adhering to the City’s mission, vision, values, and goals, while maintaining professionalism in both appearance and behavior.
- Contributes to the development and execution of Home Teamwork Plans.
- Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of applicable policies, codes, ordinances, regulations, and statutes.
- Repairs heavy equipment, including hydraulics, final drives, power take-off units, starters, alternators, cooling systems, diesel engines, and transmissions.
- Repairs all other vehicles as necessary.
- Schedules and oversees preventive maintenance and overhauls for all equipment.
- Provides input for vehicle renewal-replacement schedules and equipment maintenance budgets.
- Determines the need for outsourcing equipment or vehicle repairs and establishes vendor maintenance contracts.
- Performs maintenance and repair on small engine equipment, including lawnmowers, weed eaters, pumps, compressors, and chainsaws.
- Sharpens tools, including chainsaws, shears, and mower blades.
- Informs Supervisor of necessary tools, repair manuals, equipment, and supplies required for maintenance tasks.
- Recommends measures to enhance machine operations and efficiency.
- Maintains cleanliness of the maintenance shop and ensures proper storage of Public Works equipment.
- Serves as the City’s Fleet Manager.
- Remains available on a 24/7 “on-call” basis for Public Works-related emergencies.
- Contributes to the continuous improvement of Home Team Quality measures through the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Five (5) years of relevant work experience.
- Valid Florida Class “E” Driver’s License required.
- ASE Certification is preferred.
- None.
- Knowledge of departmental policies, procedures, and practices.
- Proficiency with office equipment, such as multi-line phones and copy machines.
- Competence in computer-based tasks including data entry, word processing, and accounting.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to interpret technical and administrative documents, instructions, and methods.
- Demonstrates problem-solving abilities when addressing complex, non-standard situations.
- Proficiency in math for calculations involving percentages, time, and weights.
- Ability to inspect, analyze, and measure objects for proper functionality.
- Ability to differentiate colors and identify defects in materials.
- Ability to interact professionally with staff, supervisors, the public, and elected officials.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure with competing deadlines and priorities.
