The Health Department has three major offices : Population Health, Clinical Services and Outreach, and Administration and Organizational Development. Each office works collaboratively with external partners and the community to create a public health system that supports the health of Detroiters across their lifespan.
This is a Temporary Administrative Special Services (TASS II) position.
This Appointment Term is based on the availability of grant funds.
Examples of Duties
Promoting community health and wellness through personalized and compassionate service.
Oversee and provide clinical services at assigned Neighborhood Wellness Centers.

Supervises, including assignment and evaluation of subordinate team members, and provides patient care on a daily basis.
Adheres to the mission, vision, values.
Complies with approved policies, procedures, guidelines and standards as established by the Detroit Health Department and the City of Detroit.

PRINICIPAL / ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Develops a detailed plan of care, which includes patient / family education, based on initial and on-going assessment findings to optimize patient outcomes.
Assigns, delegates, and supervises other employees and intervenes as appropriate to ensure that the plan of care is carried out and that established outcomes are achieved through availability and appropriate utilization of human, material and financial resources.
Evaluates the effectiveness of plans and interventions to promote optimum achievement of established goals.
Collaborates formally and informally with other members of the healthcare team, including facility and DHD representatives, to identify opportunities for improvement and develop strategies for enhancing clinical practice.
Establishes relationships with professionals in other healthcare and community organizations to develop strong partnerships that support improved patient outcomes and the health of the community served.
Provides supervision, including guidance, counseling, teaching and mentoring, to targeted peers and subordinates to enhance learning experiences and improve the professional practice environment within the designated work setting.
Minimum Qualifications
Registered Nurse (RN)
Must be BLS Certified
1 year of experience
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Must be BLS Certified

Vital signs and point of care testing for screening

Medical Plan Offering for Administrative Special Services Employees
The City of Detroit is pleased to continue to provide a medical plan option to our Administrative Special Services Employees for the 2020 plan year. This plan is provided by Blue Care Network of Michigan and utilizes their PCP Focus Network. This plan provides you with the opportunity to receive an enhanced level of benefits and pay less out of your paycheck for your medical plan. There are two important requirements that you should consider and understand if you should decide to enroll in this plan. You will have to choose a primary care physician that serves within the PCP Focus network. This primary care physician coordinates your care. The network includes over 22,000 Primary Care Physicians. There are also Wellness Requirements that you (the subscriber) must meet in order to remain in the enhanced level of benefit.
Administrative Special Services Staff (Exempt) are eligible for the following benefits :
VACATION - Granted (1) day per pay period, not to exceed 20 days per fiscal year
PAID HOLIDAYS - Granted if paid for 600 straight time hours in the (12) months prior to the holiday
MILEAGE REIMBURSEMENT - Granted on same basis as regular employees.
WORKERS COMPENSATION - Covered by applicable laws.
UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION - Covered by applicable laws.
HOSPITALIZATION - You are eligible to purchase healthcare benefits for yourself and your dependents under a group rate. You will be responsible for the full premium, no employer contribution will be applied.Please review the Health Care Plan Options Booklet for more detailed information.
