What are the responsibilities and job description for the City Administrator position at City of Drain?
The City of Drain (named for its 19th century founder) is seeking an individual committed to excellence in city governance. Requires bachelor’s degree in public administration or related field (master’s preferred). ICMA Credentialed Manager a plus. Experience with a unionized bargaining unit would be helpful. Requires a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in municipal government. Private sector business experience will also be considered. The City Administrator will provide vision and leadership in identifying key city initiatives, be a self-starter, problem solver and maintain excellent relationships with the Council, local citizens and businesses. Skill in successful economic development strategies and project management is desired. The City Administrator must have strong finance and budgetary skills and assure that city funds are spent carefully and appropriately. The City Administrator should have a successful track of record of securing and administering grants and knowledge of human resources practices. Reports to five-member Mayor and Council. Ten employees, annual budget of $10 million. Utilities include streets, water, wastewater and electric company.
