The City of Dublin is hiring! We are now accepting applications for seasonal employment (Summer 2025) at The Wave. Interested individuals are strongly encouraged to apply early. The 2025 Summer Water Park season runs from May 10, 2025 to September 1, 2025. The expected start date for this position is May 10, 2025.
Swim Assessments for Lifeguard / Swim Instructor
Swim tests and interviews will be conducted on-site at the job fair on Saturday, February 1, 2025. Please bring swim attire and be prepared to take the swim tests. The two assessments below will be evaluated by an American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor and participants must pass BOTH assessments to qualify for the position and for the American Red Cross Lifeguard certification class (provided by the City of Dublin prior to start date).
Sw im-Tread-Swim Sequence
- Swim 150 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. Swimming on the back or side is not permitted. Swim goggles are allowed.
- Maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading water using only the legs.
- Swim 50 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both.
Timed Event : Must complete within 1 minute, 40 seconds
General Purpose :
To perform lifeguard duties in enforcing City public swimming pool rules and monitoring pool patron conduct; perform emergency rescue and lifesaving techniques. To provide instruction in all levels of American Red Cross swimming certification and other aquatics programs.
Supervision Received and Exercised :
Receives immediate supervision from assigned supervisor and functional and / or technical supervision from higher-level technical personnel including Recreation Coordinator.

Minimum Qualifications
Training and Experience :

Other than statutory law, AB1522 (CA Paid Sick Leave law), there are no benefits for part-time, temporary / seasonal positions. The City does not participate in the Social Security system except for a mandatory Medicare contribution. In lieu of Social Security, the City will contribute 1.5% of the employee's salary on the employee's behalf to the PARS Alternate Retirement System.

Job offers are conditional until your American Red Cross First Aide and CPR / AED for the professional rescuer certification classes are successfully completed. This is a job requirement certification, failure to complete these courses will disqualify you from the hiring process. The City of Dublin will pay for the instructor, supplies, and certification. All certification classes will take place at The Wave (4201 Central Parkway, Dublin). Select ONE of the following American Red Cross course that fits your schedule. All sessions of your selected course must be attended in order to receive your certification(s). There will be NO makeups or transfers once your class has begun.
There are three mandatory training dates (see below). Select the training dates you are available to attend (check all that apply). Please note, because they are mandatory trainings, it will be difficult to make up missed trainings if you are not available for these days.
