Do you have a passion for working with children? Apply today to join the City of Dublin’s Wee Folk Room at the Dublin Community Recreation Center (DCRC) as a Child Care Attendant to tend to and monitor the children of individuals utilizing our facilities.
 
Scheduling/Availability: Currently looking for individuals available to work the following shifts, with the ability to pick up additional shifts:
  • Mondays, 4-8:15pm
  • Tuesdays, 4-8:15pm
  • Fridays, 4-8:15pm

Childcare Attendant duties include, but are not limited to:
  1. Design and implement daily crafts and activities for children of different ages to be able to participate in while they are in the room.
  2. Maintain the safety and well-being the kids using the Wee Folk Room by following Wee Folk policies and procedures.
    • Communicate and problem solve calmly and respectfully with families, facility staff and DCRC full-time staff.
    • Staying up to date on any new room policies, rules and trainings.
    • Updating medical and emergency information in the computer system.
    • Informing parents of sign in/out processes.
  3. Ensure the security of equipment and supplies, including tracking inventory and timely planning for replacement of supplies.
    • Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment in the Wee Folk Room and outside play area.
    • Conduct a daily check of the area and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair.
    • Clean program area, keeping it free of hazards and debris.
  4. Interact with child(ren) and parents in a fair and positive manner.
    • Stay alert to child(ren) needs and assist them with needs.
    • Work cooperatively with other staff members, supervisors, and Managers on Duty to create a safe and enjoyable experience that keep children involved and having fun.
Working with Fellow Child Care Attendants
  1. Be an example of the Recreation Services' Workplace Mutual Expectations:
    • Demonstrate positive energy, trust co-workers, be solution-oriented, and hold yourself and others accountable.
    • Abide by mandatory reporting policies as described in the staff manual.
  2. Participate and assist in the implementation of activities for children.
    • Actively participate and assist other staff in all activities.
  3. Effectively communicate problems or concerns to the Operations Coordinator.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 15 years of age or older
  • Possession of current American Red Cross certifications in CPR/AED/First Aid or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Willing to work under direct supervision
  • Ability to work independently as well as on a team
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in childhood development, babysitting, recreation or latchkey programs
  • Current/previous certification in American Red Cross Babysitting
Physical Requirements
  • Potential to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to sit on the floor for a period of time in order to play or read with children

Supplemental Information: All positions within this job classification have been designated as Casual in nature and all employees serving in such positions are considered to be Casual Employees. Casual employees serve strictly at the pleasure of the City and their employment may be terminated at any time for any reason, with or without cause.
