Do you want to work with a dynamic and experienced Recreation Team that values innovation, training and growth? Then look no further for the perfect internship for you!

The purpose of the Camp Internship is to provide you with professional development and experience in the fields of recreation and summer camps. Ideally, the Camps Intern works an average of 15-20 hours per week in April and May, and 35-40 hours per week in June, July, and August. The successful candidate will be required to work some evening and weekend hours as needed or assigned. On occasion, the Camp Intern may be asked to serve at our camps in a Camp Counselor role (as-needed).
 
Intern Pay Structure
Undergraduate Freshman: $15.00/hour
Undergraduate Sophomore: $15.50/hour
Undergraduate Junior: $16.00/hour
Undergraduate Senior: $16.50/hour
First Year Graduate Student: $17.50/hour
Second Year Graduate Student: $19.00/hour

Examples of duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Office work such as maintaining records, filing, copying, preparing outgoing mail and database management
  • Assist with coordinating the Library Program for summer camps
  • Creation of flyers and literature for distribution to the public promoting camps programs, events, seasonal staffing and employment opportunities
  • Assist Camps Program Coordinator with camp logistics: shopping for programming supplies, preparing materials for camp locations, staff training, weekly newsletters, camper photos and more
  • Assist with employee certificate maintenance
  • Attend Recreation Department and Preschool, Youth & Teen team meetings
  • Assist with office management and organization
  • Assist with Camp Moving Day and end of season camp closures
  • Additional assignments may also include assisting various staff with the daily operations of recreational programs
Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Recreation Administration, Sports & Leisure Studies, Outdoor Education or a related field
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license
  • Availability to work 15-20 hours per week April-May & 35-40 hours per week June-August
  • Ability to work in-person in Dublin, Ohio (no remote opportunities available)
  • Ability to work independently
  • Previous experience in a recreation or sports related environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least one year of college course work in recreation, education, or related field OR two or more years work experience in a recreation related field
  • Interest in and a strong basic knowledge of camp and/or recreation programs
  • Experience managing or working with students in any setting
Other Requirements
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings
  • Regular, predictable and punctual attendance
  • Ability to develop positive relationships with people from different backgrounds
  • Evaluate camp program and environment and provide input to support staff and supervisors
  • Abide by mandatory reporting policies as described in the staff manual
  • Accept other responsibilities deemed necessary by your supervisor in order to ensure quality service to all campers
  • Perform duties assigned to the best of your ability and with a positive attitude

Casual employees serve strictly at the pleasure of the City and their employment may be terminated at any time for any reason, with or without cause.
