This role involves working in a humid, wet environment. Must be able to be in and around water for extended periods of time.

Minimum Education and Certification: Group Fitness Certification; CPR/AED certification.
Minimum Experience: Prior experience teaching water aerobics or similar fitness classes preferred.

- Plan, organize and lead group water aerobics classes.
- Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all participants.
- Maintain cleanliness and order of the pool area before and after class.
- Inspect the aerobics area and equipment daily.
- Provide modifications for different fitness levels and physical limitations.
- Communicate effectively with aquatic staff and class participants.
- Fill out and submit as scheduled an accurate timecard for hours worked.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Knowledge Of:
- Operations, services, and activities of a City Parks and Recreation Department, including but not limited to:
- Proper and safe leading of a fitness class;
- Cleaning of the aerobics area equipment;
- Basic CPR/AED skills;
- Certification in Group Fitness Instruction or Aquatics Fitness.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Operate fitness area equipment and wireless sound system.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
- Maintain mental capacity that allows the capability of effectively interacting and communicating with others.

Physical Activities:
- Acceptable verbal and conversation skills to effectively communicate with others.
- This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work frequently requires standing, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions and occasionally requires walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and reaching with hands and arms.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance and peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
- Vocal communication and normal hearing are required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
- Ability to recognize occupational hazards in work activities and take safety precautions.
- Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of making sound decisions and following directions.
