What are the responsibilities and job description for the Materials Handler position at City of Durango?
Assist the Durango Public Library team by checking in, organizing, and re-shelving Library materials as a part-time Materials Handler.
Provide friendly, proactive, and knowledgeable assistance to Library patrons. Sort and shelve Library materials. Ensure that materials are shelved in their proper order. Answer basic directional questions from the public, and otherwise referring patrons to the appropriate service desk for further assistance. Adhere to Library policies and procedures. Assist in providing a secure environment for patrons, staff, and library materials. May answer the Library telephone and direct calls. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Minimum of two years high school education. - Commitment to delivering position, friendly customer service.
- Basic understanding of the Dewey Decimal System and the alphabet.
- Ability to receive and follow oral and written instructions.
- An awareness of the purposes and functions of the public library and the ability to learn routine library procedures.
