Schedule & Hours:
Positions available from May - October
Weekday Position: 40 hours per week M-F, 7am-3pm
Evening/Weekend: 20-40 hours per week, flexible on availability and need
Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications of the position will be invited to complete a pre-recorded video interview. Invitations will be sent out to candidates as applications are received and reviewed.
Duties may include work in the following areas but are not limited to just one.
Mowing Crew: Duties may include operating hand mowers, weed whips, riding mowers, tractors, and leaf blowers
General Park Maintenance: Duties may include litter removal, shelter/restroom and building maintenance and cleaning
Athletic Field Maintenance: Assist in the maintenance of the City’s athletic fields at various parks and athletic complexes. Duties include preparing athletic fields for play, chalking lines, litter removal, and restroom cleaning
Forestry: Assist the City tree crew in the cleanup of diseased and hazardous trees, tree trimming, pruning, and brush removal
Horticulture/Landscape: Maintain City gardens and surrounding areas in various City Parks. Duties include planting flowers/trees/shrubs, weeding gardens, mulching gardens, and watering
Other Position Functions:
- Assist other city staff as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
- 16 years of age or older by first date of employment (some positions may require applicants to be 17 )
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and work in all weather conditions
- Must be able to communicate effectively with the public and co-workers
- Ability to perform all essential functions of the position under the working conditions described
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance, janitorial work, or light construction
- Commercial driver’s license
Working Conditions: 95% field 5% other
Employees are required to work outdoors on uneven ground, while carrying heavy loads or performing maintenance tasks, in all weather conditions experienced in Eagan during the months of April through November. Weather conditions encountered may include heat, cold, rain, snow, sleet, wind, etc.
