Operates a variety of contractor's equipment and trucks utilized in construction, maintenance and repair activities; performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance of light, street, water, sewer and storm drainage systems. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Operates trucks of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling and unloading of various equipment, materials, and supplies. Operates trucks and construction or power equipment, such as dump trucks, snowplows, sidewalk plows, skid steers. Operates small equipment and tools to maintain street and utility systems. Repairs water main leaks and other utility repairs/maintenance.Street/sidewalk repairs including asphalt patching, concrete (sidewalks, curbs, etc).Conducts yard waste/composting route serviceAssists in the installing and maintenance of traffic control devices. Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards. On-call rotation for public works emergency responses. Controls traffic at work sites by flagging to guide traffic through work areas, as required or assigned.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED: Motorized vehicles and equipment, including back-hoe, dump truck, pickup truck, utility truck, street sweeper, roller, skid steer, loader, lift, tamp/plate compactor, saws, pumps, compressors, sanders, generators, common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, detection devices, mobile radio, phone. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
