The City of East Lansing is seeking a Human Resources Administrator. East Lansing, a residential community of 48,500 people and home to Michigan State University, operates under the Council-Manager form of government with a full-time staff of approximately 300 and a combined budget of $146.6 million for FY 2025.

This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional looking to make a meaningful impact in a collaborative local government organization. The successful candidate provides internal support to all operating departments. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- interpreting and answering inquiries related to HR policies and procedures;
- coordinating training and employee recognition initiatives;
- providing support to the employment/recruitment process;
- facilitating new employee orientation and onboarding;
- maintaining employee records and documentation;
- administering employee benefits programs from new hire through retirement,
- managing the offboarding program and administering COBRA.
- contributing to the development and implementation of HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the City’s goals.

Qualifications
- Possession of a bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field and three or more years of progressively responsible experience in human resources required, but may be substituted with equivalent training, education, or experience.
- Experience with HR, finance, and benefits systems and ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Professional human resources certification or a master’s degree in human resources is preferred.
