As the Assistant Director of Engineering at the City of East Moline, you will work under the general direction of the Director of Engineering to seamlessly plan, direct, and manage the daily activities and operations of the engineering department. - Knowledge of land and engineering survey systems, methods and techniques
- Knowledge of computer aided drafting (CAD) and geographic information system (GIS) Software products and their utilization
- Knowledge of construction material and approved standards of safety as related to structural designs and specifications
- Knowledge of city ordinances.
- Knowledge of Brownfield practices.
- Ability to utilize basic functions of ESRI Suite of GIS Software products
- Ability to direct the operations of a multi-functional department; skill in public, employee and labor relations and in maintaining effective working relationships.
- Ability to read and interpret property surveying with legal descriptions and platting and courthouse research, designing of plans, drafting of plans, specification development, inspection of construction and compilation of payments and documentation.
- Ability to design, draft and compile construction plans, write technical specifications, prepare bidding and contract documents, administrate and oversee construction.
- Ability to make public presentations with the use of technical writing.
- Ability to instruct and supervise technical personnel in the proper methods of engineering.
- Ability to utilize approved engineering methods and standards for the design and construction of municipal public work projects.
