Emergency Shelter Evening Attendent

Summary: Under the Supervision of the Community Health Coordinator, the Emergency Shelter Evening Attendant provides oversight of the City of East Providence Emergency Shelter located at the East Providence Senior Center. The position is available only during cold and other weather-related emergencies as determined by the City of East Providence. The work hours of the Emergency Shelter Evening Attendant are 1:00 am to 7:30 am.
General Responsibilities:
- Maintain order of the facility and any services provided on site.
- Engage with guests of the Emergency Shelter in a courteous and professional manner.
Desirable Abilities, Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to address the needs of guests of the emergency shelter.
- Empathy for people who are in need.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work during overnight hours
Additional Requirements:
- Must pass a State of Rhode Island Background Check (BCI)
