We are currently accepting applications for two Recreation Program Supervisor (Part-Time) positions in our Recreation Division! These positions are responsible for coordinating seasonal recreation programs under the direction of the Recreation Manager which includes : coordinating project and event volunteers; handling personnel functions for all part-time temporary staff; developing and managing recreation programs; equipment inventory and control; program promotion; handling complaints and concerns from patrons; and preparing reports.
Typical Schedules :
- Position 1 : This position primarily supervises youth instructional programs and activities. Approximately 10-15 hours per week as needed from mid-March through May for program planning leading up to summer. June through August includes up to 40 hours per week as needed for successful delivery of programs during normal business hours. Occasional planning hours are also needed during the winter months depending on candidate availability.
- Position 2 : This position primarily supervises youth and adult athletic leagues and athletic instructional programs occurring on weekdays during the late afternoon and evening hours from mid-April through October. Approximately 15-25 hours per week from March through October is expected for successful delivery of programs. Occasional planning hours are also needed during the winter months depending on candidate availability.

JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION SCOPE
It is the purpose of the Recreation Division of the Community Services Department to provide year-round recreation opportunities for the community. Under general supervision, this position will supervise and coordinate a comprehensive municipal recreation program and various community events. Primary duties are to plan, schedule, organize, and direct the day-to-day work of part-time staff and volunteers in the operation of each of these areas of responsibility while maintaining administrative oversight of each area of supervision. In addition, this position acts as a liaison to outside groups that interact with the Recreation Division in the execution of their own activities and events.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develops and manages recreation programs and services for all ages and abilities. Monitors programs through occasional visits and frequent contact with program staff. Monitors program safety and weather conditions and makes modifications as necessary.
Recruits, interviews, hires, trains, and supervises part-time staff and volunteers for recreation programs and community events.
Responsible for program and event promotion utilizing a variety of marketing and promotional methods to ensure maximum community awareness of available program and event offerings. Solicits sponsorships and advertising as necessary to ensure financial success of programs.
Reviews program and event evaluations completed by full-time and part-time staff, program participants, coaches, and volunteers. Makes changes to programs as considered necessary.
Prepares anticipated budgets for all programs, activities, and events under their umbrella of supervision. Establishes budgets including fees and charges, staff payroll, purchases of equipment and supplies, and facility rental.
Prepares final reports through the use of evaluations, registration data, and program revenue and expense data. Analyzes financial reports to determine if fees collected from participants are adequate to cover the appropriate percentage of the program expenses.
Utilizes specific recreation management, budgeting, and office software applications including ActiveNet, Munis, NeoGov, When to Work, and the Microsoft Office Suite. Must have the ability to learn how to utilize various software packages to deliver services to the community.
Leads and coordinates orientations and staff trainings for topics including, but not limited to, bloodborne pathogens, CPR / first aid, recreation management software operation, policies and procedures, as well as position and situation specific training for positions under the individual's umbrella of supervision.

Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other city officials, employees, civic groups, school administrators, community and facility stakeholders, and the general public.
Assists in the development of long-term plans for programs, activities and community events.
Assists in the development of division, departmental, and city policies and procedures.
Accountable for the inventory and control of program equipment, clothing, and supplies, including ordering and payment of invoices.
Attends in-service trainings as well as outside training as necessary to stay current with recreation trends and specific professional skills.
Responds to input from customers, internal and external stakeholders, and community organizations in a professional and collaborative manner.
Maintains personal image of the department by involvement in professional and community organizations.
Contributes to process improvements and creates efficiencies in operations wherever possible.
Responds as necessary to emergent situations in their area of supervision.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / CERTIFICATIONS
Associate degree in business administration, sports management, communications, recreation, or relevant field is required. A bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
A minimum of one year of experience in recreation programming or event planning is preferred.
State of Wisconsin DPI Certification preferred.
Must possess or obtain (within 30 days of hire) and maintain a valid Wisconsin Driver's License.

Paid Holidays if Normally Scheduled to Work

Floating Holidays
