Art Camps Assistant- Youth Visual and Performing Arts (Part-time/Seasonal)
Expected Start Date- June 2025
Details
- Part Time (Part-time/Temporary/Seasonal Status), non-exempt
- $14.00 - $15.50 per hour (depending on qualifications)
- Reports to Recreation Supervisor- Arts and Events
- Located at Eden Prairie Art Center (7650 Equitable Dr., Eden Prairie, MN).
- Position runs June 2025 - August 2025. Shifts vary, including weekdays, weekends and evenings. Must be available minimum of 1 weekend shift(s) per month.
The Art Camps Assistant supports Art Center and Theatre Camp Instructors, helps with development and implementation of daily camp activities, assists with supplies, coordinates drop-off and pick-up, and supports other programs and events as needed. The primary position responsibilities and areas of impact are:
- Assists with program policies and guidelines, as well as implementation of class curriculum to support students in their learning, behavior and ensure student needs are met through personal recognition and providing quality service.
- Ensures that a safe and healthy environment exists for participants and staff and monitors the well-being of all participants throughout program.
- Provides in-class support for instructors and assists with set-up and clean-up. Provides supply coordination support, drop-off and pick-up coordination and lunch supervision.
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age by May 2025. Ability to work entire summer season, June – August. CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Experience working with children or youth required. Experience in visual arts or performing arts preferred. Background implementing programs and supporting children or youth preferred. Good communication skills preferred. Weekend availability required.
- Candidates must successfully complete and pass the City’s evaluation of the pre-employment process prior to their first day of employment. Pre-employment processes for this position includes professional reference checks, background check, work verification.
- Able to convey a message to get a point across. Communicates in a clear and concise manner. Able to write clearly and succinctly. Tailors message to a variety of communication settings and styles.
- Ability to perform and/or coordinate several activities, responsibilities, and tasks simultaneously in a polite and professional manner. Prioritizes what needs to get done. Keeps things neat and orderly. Utilizes tools for efficiency. Factors several considerations when planning. Establishes methods to ensure routine tasks are completed.
- Ability to tackle a problem by using logical, systematic, sequential approach. Makes a systematic comparison of two or more alternatives. Notices discrepancies and inconsistencies in available information. Identifies a set of features, parameters or considerations to take into account in analyzing a situation or making a decision.
