- Part Time (Part-time/Temporary/Seasonal Status), non-exempt
- $23.00 - $24.00 per hour (depending on qualifications)
- Reports to Recreation Supervisor- Arts and Events
- Located at Eden Prairie Art Center (7650 Equitable Dr., Eden Prairie, MN).
- Position runs May 2025 - August 2025. Shifts vary, including weekdays, weekends and evenings. Must be available minimum of 2 weekend shifts per month.
The Art Center Instructor lead classes, workshops, and/or event hands-on projects for a variety of ages based on area of expertise and the needs of the Art Center. Individuals hired for this position may substitute for art classes in a variety of other mediums. The primary position responsibilities and areas of impact are:
- Provides instruction and prepares creative curriculum in a variety of media for youth or families. Instructs special bookings such as birthday/private parties or lessons and events. Ensures students and member needs are met through personal recognition and providing quality service.
- Effectively prepares the necessary resources and supplies prior to class and responds in timely manner to emails and other schedule inquiries.
- Assumes a leadership role as an arts professional through administration of all Art Center policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for participants and monitoring the well-being of all participants throughout art programs. Assists in the upkeep and general maintenance of the Art Center building. May be responsible for opening and closing the Art Center building for programs and open studio time.
Requirements
- B.S., B.A., or B.F.A. degree in art, art history, education/teaching or related subject is preferred or must be currently enrolled in a related degree program and/or have significant teaching experience with children or youth. CPR and First Aid certifications are preferred. Experience teaching children or youth in an educational or recreation setting is required. Art teaching experience in a school or art center setting preferred. Minimum of 1-year of relevant experience preferred. Able to create lesson plans independently for youth in 2D and 3D. Preference given to individuals who can teach multiple mediums, specifically drawing/painting, ceramics, glass, sculpture, fiber, and process art. Some equipment training or subject-matter training may be provided. Summer day camp, evening and weekend availability required.
