Job Summary:
The Early Morning Facility Supervisor is the point of contact in the early morning hours of the facility and is responsible for ensuring the facility is open on time and ready for business, ready for swim clubs to safely begin practice, and able to receive facility deliveries. They will open and inspect the facility for any hazards, vandalism or operational concerns. They are responsible for checking all bodies of water to ensure they are clear. The Ellis Facility Opening list must be completed as well as a facility specific checklist.
Scope of Impact:
The expectation of the Early Morning Facility Supervisor is to serve in this introductory leadership position that collaborates and motivates in a positive fashion with other facility staff, vendors, and the public. This position reports to the Assistant General Manager and may also take direction from other leaders.
This is a seasonal position beginning in April on a “limited basis capacity” (once a week), then will ramp up to a more “full-time capacity” in mid to late May, then ending in August. Scheduled shifts include days, evenings, weekends and holidays, with shift start or end times may vary due to facility needs. Examples include inclement weather, staffing levels, special events, rentals, and training sessions. They are expected to work 15-35 hours per week when at “full-time capacity”. The maximum number of hours available each week is 40.
Typical Shift Times (during full-time capacity)
- Weekdays – 5:30-10:30am (1 shift)
- Weekends – 7:00-11:30am (1 shift)
Incentive
Seasonal Commitment Program: Receive a $200 incentive when you work the entire seasonal range of June 5, 2025 - August 17, 2025, at the Edina Aquatic Center. Eligible employees (current City of Edina seasonal/part-time employees) will receive the lump sum payment if they work the entire season, with satisfactory performance and with no unexcused absences. Managers must work through August 17 and a minimum of 175 hours to be eligible for the commitment bonus.
FACILITY/GENERAL
Responsible for the on-site direction of all aspects of the Aquatic Center, with a primary focus on the operations & staffing required for opening the facility
- Unlocking necessary doors to pool side storage and locker room roll-up doors on the deck side. Ensure all other doors/gates are locked when not in use.
- Act as receiver & vendor point of contact for all deliveries & distribution of delivered goods, including stocking those goods to the proper locations across the facility, including refrigerated, frozen and dry goods using established food safety protocols
Charged with responsible use of reporting tools & technology used to create, review, & take action on closing & opening reports/checklists focused on addressing any facility, equipment, supply/inventory, communication, or staffing needs. All facility managers & the CPO (certified pool operator) also receive the report, so it is a shared responsibility that these needs are addressed in a timely and collaborative manner.
- Communicate daily with full-time lead staff (General Manager, Assistant Manager, Facility Coordinator, Certified Pool Operator(s), Birthday Party Coordinator) & full-time seasonal lead staff (Seasonal Managers, Early Morning Supervisors, Lifeguard Instructors, Leads)
- Review, print & publish reports & schedules that ensures the smooth operation/achievement of daily duties
- Review all inventories & order or notify the seasonal manager of a list of goods needed.
As an active operation, other duties as assigned.
Ensure the staffing & equipment is in place to support the safe operation of the facility, rentals, for open
- Review open shifts & provide both staff & facility communication in the event of closures, staff absences
DECK MANAGEMENT
Complete safety inspections essential to deck management & facility operations
- Completing the Ellis Facility Opening list & facility-specific checklist
- Providing proactive deck management to staff, swim club and swim lesson participants limiting areas of access.
GUEST SERVICES
Share knowledge with staff on upholding high customer service standards while adhering to facility policies
Ensure security/accountability/accurate counts of all cash or staff supporting the operation
- Counting & sorting bills in daily money bags and preparing detailed bank deposit forms/reports for bank drop, including communicating to staff & facility managers any reconciling discrepancies.
- Accurately prepping cash registers with bill balancing, regular cash counts, & assisting staff with daily cash transactions & operation
Assistant General Manager with the execution of training of & monitoring of staff members on proper cash handling procedures, security protocols, and customer service standards to maintain accuracy and prevent errors
Assist Facility Coordinator & Birthday Party Coordinator with the organization, communication & preparation efforts required to actively manage groups & birthday parties. This includes but is not limited to:
- Communicating & confirming group details in collaboration with both group contact, host, & facility managers
- Organizing group and birthday party locations and set-ups, leading & outlining best practices for the supporting staff in these set-ups & preparation efforts
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be available to open facility Monday-Friday morning at 5:30am, and Saturday and Sunday at 7:30am.
- 1 years, or equivalent, experience working in aquatics, recreation, or high contact customer service
- 1 years, or equivalent, experience in leadership position
- Current Ellis & Associates’ First Aid, CPR, & AED certification, or willingness to achieve certification

Working Conditions:
The Edina Aquatic Center is an outdoor facility, requiring work in all types of weather conditions; strong and unpleasant odors and fumes such as chlorine; noise from children; allergens such as pollen and bee stings; pool chemical fluctuations which might cause irritation to eyes and skin; and possibility of administering first aid which may involve exposure to infections leading to chronic disease or death, even bloodborne pathogens. Applicants must be able to perform all essential position functions under the working conditions previously described.
