Starting Salary : $20.67 - 21.62 per hour (depending on qualifications and experience)

About the Position :
The City of Edmond Detention Facility is located in the downtown area at 100 E. First Street. This Detention Officer's primary responsibility is to ensure the safety and care of inmates during their confinement at the detention facility. Our mission is Trustworthy Service : we work hard to maintain a good relationship with the community and provide a higher degree of service.
Responsibilities :
- Book inmates into the Detention Center
- Check for drugs or weapons and physically restraining inmates / releasing inmates from the Detention Center
- Supervise inmate's well-being (feeding, showering, checking for health issues, and monitoring)
- Complete fingerprinting for citizens and inmates
- Clean, disinfect, and de-contaminate inmate area
- Communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers, inmates, and the general public
- Maintain self-control and composure to act professionally when dealing with difficult individuals or situations
