Starting Hourly Salary: $22.78–$34.17 (depending on ASE/Master certifications); with no certifications the starting salary is $20.19 hourly.

About this Position
The Mechanic II performs skilled tasks to complete all phases of maintenance and repair of gasoline and diesel driven automotive and related equipment. Their work ranges from general maintenance and repair to complete overhauls of engines and transmissions, advanced electrical wiring, refrigeration, and fabrication. The Mechanic II will use independent judgment to determine the method of repair after receiving a repair order.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, and locate complex mechanical problems
- Tune up engines, replace ignition parts, clean parts, and make adjustments as specified by the manufacturer
- Inspect, adjust, and replace necessary units and related parts including internal and external engine work
- Make needed repairs, check fluid levels, and perform oil changes
- Perform on-the-road or job site repairs safely and independently
- Instruct less experienced employees in proper procedure and techniques
- Maintain work, time, and material records
- Maintain shop cleanliness, repair service equipment, and change tires
- Periodically perform stand-by and call back duties and be available for call outs and overtime when needed
- Obtain a Motorcycle Endorsement if required
- Obtain A.S.E. Certifications within one (1) year of employment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 3 years of related experience and/or training
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid Class "B" Oklahoma Commercial Driver's License with required endorsements
- Or if the City is assisting with the process, must obtain CDL within 30 days of completing the program
- Driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier

- Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position
- Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug and audio screenings
