Starting Salary: $20.18–$22.09 (depending on experience)

About this Position
The Plant Mechanic I performs work of a mechanical and manual nature involving preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance and/or operation of water and wastewater treatment and sewage pumping equipment. Plant maintenance mechanics must be able to work flexible hours and be on 24/7 callback at least one week a month.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance procedures on various equipment
- Document maintenance efforts, including the materials and supplies used
- Perform general housekeeping tasks, including painting equipment and appurtenances
- Maintain inventory of parts, tools, and supplies, and order more as needed
- Perform corrective maintenance procedures on equipment
- Develop and track equipment use schedule and rotate mechanical equipment as necessary
- Work with in-house and external service providers, contractors, and vendors for major maintenance
- Perform or assist with specialized projects as delegated by the supervisor
- Obtain a Class "B" Oklahoma Commercial Driver's License within one (1) year
- Obtain the following water and wastewater operator licenses:
- temporary license within 10 days
- Class "D" license within one (1) year
- Class "C" license within two (2) years
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 2 years of experience and/or training
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Wastewater Works Operator "B" license and Water Works Operator "B" license (preferred)
- Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
Necessary Skills
- Strong mathematical ability
- Strong written/verbal communication skills
- Ability to perform standby and callback duties
- Availability for on-call status during off duty hours (on 24/7 callback at least one week per month)
- Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position
- Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug test, hearing test, and pulmonary functioning test (for use of a respirator)
