The Opportunity :
The City of El Cajon is currently searching for an enthusiastic professional to be an integral part of the City's Police Department. The ideal candidate will be a team player and can perform a variety of specialized police support duties in a non-sworn capacity. The individual must also be flexible in the sense that assignments can be change based operation and department needs.

The Recruitment Process : Applications and Supplemental Questionnaires will be screened. The most highly qualified candidates will be invited to go through pre-employment testing and / or screening. Successful candidates will be placed on an eligible list for employment consideration for at least six months. Candidates selected for this position will be required to pass a thorough background investigation, including credit check, polygraph, medical examination, and drug screen.
Typical Duties
All assignments :
- Prepares reports of crimes and violations taken over the telephone, in the field, or at the front counter of the Police facility;
- Operates computers and other equipment to input, access and maintain statistics;
- Assists in preparation of documents and evidence for court and testifies in court as required;
- Maintains a variety of files and logs;
- May be required to train new employees and volunteers.
There are currently four assignments in this classification. As the need arises, additional assignments may be created. The representative duties in the current assignments are :

Qualification Guidelines
Education : Educational achievement equivalent to graduation from high school. College level coursework in criminal justice is desirable.
Experience : None Required
Special Requirements : Possession of or ability to obtain, prior to employment, a valid Class C California driver's license with a safe driving record.
