The City is currently searching for an experienced individual to lead its Parks Maintenance Division outdoors for the Parks and Recreation Department. The Position:
The ideal candidate has considerable experience with pesticide use for landscape maintenance, right-of-way pest control, and irrigation systems. The Senior Maintenance Worker will be a driven team leader who demonstrates knowledge and professionalism with the ability to undertake a full range of landscaping and maintenance duties.
The Recruitment Process:
The most highly qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the examination process, which includes a Qualifications Appraisal Interview and a practical exam. The Qualifications Appraisal Interview and practical exam are tentatively scheduled for March 4, 2025. - Participates in the planting, renovating, pruning, mowing, fertilizing, watering and other maintenance of assigned landscaped areas;
- Operates trucks, tractors, renovators, mowers, trenchers, rototillers, top dressers and other landscape industry equipment;
- Mixes and sprays liquid pesticides; applies granular pesticides, soil conditioners and wetting agents;
- May be assigned to the spray crew;
- Participates in the preventive maintenance and emergency repair of recreational facilities including carpentry, painting and masonry work;
- Participates in monitoring and repairing park irrigation systems; prepares irrigation controller schedules for water conservation;
- Builds and repairs fences, masonry walls and caps, pavers, bleachers, benches and backstops and maintains playground equipment.
Education: Equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by additional training in the care and maintenance of landscaped areas.
Employees in this position who possess a California Class A driver's license are subject to the mandatory drug and alcohol testing as required by the Department of Transportation.
