Job Summary
We are seeking a part-time Van Driver to transport patrons between locations using an established schedule and on special trips by dispatch or prior arrangement. The ideal candidate will have a valid Class B California driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and be able to provide excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Transport patrons to various locations, including field trips in the Bay area.
- Drive a passenger van, bus, or equivalent vehicle over designated routes and established time schedules, pick up and discharge passengers.
- Physically assist passengers in and out of the vehicle; escort passengers across streets and roadways as required.
- Ensure passenger safety and observe guidelines for vehicle capacity.
- Secure wheelchairs and other accessories inside the vehicle.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections; perform basic maintenance and ensure cleanliness of the vehicle.
- Identify and report problems or equipment malfunctions; initiate work order requests, describing the problem or circumstance.
- Compile and prepare daily and weekly dispatch notes, accident reports, and other trip statistics.
- Verify patrons have current punch pass, payment, or equivalent for rides as applicable.
Requirements
- Valid Class B California driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to safely operate a passenger bus, van, or equivalent vehicle.
- Knowledge of State laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to passenger vehicle operations.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service and interact with elderly individuals.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 60 pounds, or heavier weights with the use of proper equipment.
