Position Summary: Responsible for assisting the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and programs of the Parks Division of the Parks and Recreation Department.
Essential Functions:
- Observe safety precautions; correct minor safety problems; conduct activities in a safe manner.
- Provide litter control for park grounds, which includes emptying 35-gallon trashcans.
- Operate a variety of trucks and vehicles in the performance of work.
- Operate mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, and other equipment in a safe manner.
- Assist in inspections to ensure the safety of the public facilities; note possible safety hazards or causes of injury; perform general maintenance and repair to facilities as required.
- Maintain inventory control on all equipment
- Participate in snow and debris removal following flooding and other forms of inclement weather.
- Perform special projects as assigned.
- Prepare/clean all park shelters prior to rental; ensure that tables and benches are clean and safe
- Maintain band shell; ensure that safety and electrical needs are met.
- Assist in maintenance of spray park and pool equipment as needed; perform service on pools and spray parks as directed
- Move materials and other related items for community events
- Maintain restroom facilities at all parks; ensure that they are stocked with necessary products and are safe, sanitary and free from graffiti and debris.
- Assist with mowing and landscaping functions at parks and other public facilities as directed.

Experience: This is an entry level position, prior experience is not required. Employee is expected to acquire the necessary information and skills to perform the job satisfactorily within six months.
