Requirements
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Public Administration, Communications, Social Work, Public Health, Urban Planning, Education, or a related field and one (1) year of experience in community outreach, community assistance, or citizen response programs.
Licenses and Certificates: Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state by time of appointment.
General Purpose
Under general direction, this position will provide support and promote the City's Title VI commitment to fully complying with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related statutes.
Typical Duties
Assist in the development and implementation of the Title VI/Non-Discrimination Program to ensure compliance with the provisions of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and other nondiscrimination authorities including executive orders for Limited English Proficiency (LEP), and Environmental Justice (EJ). Involves: Assessing and monitoring risk for non-compliance. Provides technical assistance to city staff. Assist in the development and facilitation of Title VI, Limited English Proficiency (LEP), and Environmental Justice (EJ) training.
As assigned, develop and implement targeted activities to engage staff, stakeholders, and the public in obtaining and documenting data for the Title VI Annual Report. Ensures timely updates on all reportable activities addressing civil rights challenges and areas of non-compliance. Work with federal, state and local government entities on Title VI and non-discrimination compliance matters. Participate in ongoing annual Title VI training. Adhere to the rules, regulations, and laws pertaining to the Civil Rights Act. Perform all other duties that may be assigned.
