Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Information Systems, Microcomputer Technology, or related field, and four (4) years of computer hardware and software support experience with local area networks or administrative technical support, and two (2) years of supervisory or lead experience; or an Associate’s Degree or higher in Computer Information Systems, Microcomputer Technology, or a related field, and eight (8) years of computer hardware and software support experience with local area networks, or administrative technical, and two (2) years of supervisory or lead experience.
Licenses and Certificates: Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's license or equivalent issued by another state required by the time of appointment.
Under general direction and in coordination with the City’s Department of Information Technology Services (DoITS), the Transit Information Technology Administrator is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the Transit department's technical operations. This role involves planning, coordinating, and implementing technology solutions to support business operations while driving process improvements.
Coordinate and implement. Involves: Transit IT operations projects and tasks, ensuring systems are highly available and secure. Lead efforts to identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues and coordinate responses to critical incidents or outages.
Oversee and perform installation, configuration, testing and maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting of end-user workstations, hardware, and networked peripheral hardware. Involves: Perform on-site analysis, diagnostics, and resolution of complex computer problems for various end-users and vehicles; Recommend and implement corrective hardware solutions; Recommend, schedule, and perform computer, hardware, and peripheral equipment improvements, upgrades, and repairs. Confer with staff, DoITS, and vendors in resolving complex hardware or software problems.
Process and Technology Improvement. Involves: Stay up to date with the latest technology and tools used within the organization to provide effective support and recommend system upgrades or training when necessary. Analyze processes and identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, security, and reliability of Transit technology.
Demonstrated a good understanding of cybersecurity principles, including confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Involves: Knowledge of common cyber threats (e.g., phishing, malware, ransomware) and in applying fundamental defense strategies. Proficient in using antivirus software and basic network monitoring tools. Oversee and perform entry-level tasks such as log monitoring, incident documentation, and vulnerability scans.
Comply with DoITS and departmental procedures. Involves evaluating and recommending hardware products for purchase. Ensure that projects are executed in full compliance with all applicable city, state, and federal policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
Vendor Coordination. Involves: Work with third-party vendors to ensure effective delivery of outsourced services and support agreements.
Documentation and Reporting. Involves: Stay up-to-date documentation on support requests, systems, configurations, and processes, and provide regular reports to department leadership. Ensure documentation is up to date for training and reference purposes.
Project Coordination. Involves: Collaborate with various teams to implement new transit technology solutions or upgrades.
Supervise assigned staff. Involves: Schedule, assign, instruct, guide, and check work. Appraise employee performance. Provide for training and development; enforce personnel rules and regulations, and work behavior standards firmly and impartially. Counsel, motivate, and maintain harmony. Interview applicants. Perform employee performance reviews. Recommend hiring, termination, transfers, discipline, merit pay, or other employee status changes.

Salary : $65,430 - $99,680
