Job Overview: The Municipal Pool Manager is responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of the community pool, ensuring a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for all patrons. This role includes managing pool staff, coordinating pool schedules, maintaining pool facilities, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, overseeing concession services and providing excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Facility Management:
o Oversee daily operations of the municipal pool and concession stand, including scheduling and staffing.
o Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of pool facilities, including restrooms, changing rooms, poolside areas and concession stand.
o Supervise water quality by regularly testing water chemistry and ensuring compliance with health standards.
o Maintain pool equipment, including pumps, filters, and cleaning systems, and arrange for repairs when necessary.
2. Staff Supervision:
o Hire, train, and manage lifeguards, pool attendants, and other support staff.
o Develop work schedules, ensure proper coverage, and monitor employee performance.
o Coordinate ongoing training in first aid, CPR, customer service, and safety protocols.
o Foster a positive and professional work environment.
3. Safety and Compliance:
o Enforce pool safety rules and ensure that all patrons are following guidelines.
o Monitor lifeguard performance and maintain appropriate lifeguard-to-patron ratios.
o Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations, including water sanitation standards.
o Respond to emergencies, including providing first aid or CPR when needed.
4. Customer Service:
o Address patron concerns, complaints, and feedback in a professional and timely manner.
o Promote pool programs, lessons, and events to the public.
o Organize community events, swimming lessons, and other recreational activities.

5. Administrative Duties:
o Maintain records related to pool usage, staffing, maintenance, and incidents.
o Coordinate with Parks Director to prepare the pool's capital needs budget, and purchasing of supplies, and equipment.
o Assist in the development of seasonal programming, including swimming lessons, camps, and special events.
6. Budgeting and Financial Management:
o Make recommendations for the annual budget of the pool operations.
o Monitor expenditures and recommend cost-effective solutions for supplies, repairs, and improvements.
7. Concession Stand Operations:
o Oversee daily activities at the concession stand, ensuring that it is stocked, clean, and functioning efficiently.
o Maintain inventory of food, beverages, and supplies and place orders as needed.
o Ensure proper food storage and handle food preparation in accordance with health and safety standards.
o Set and monitor pricing and make adjustments as needed to align with budgetary goals.
o Ensure cleanliness and organization of the concession area, including food prep areas, counters, and storage spaces.
o Manage cash handling, including processing transactions, reconciling cash registers, and submitting daily reports.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Sports Management, or related field preferred.
• Certification in First Aid and CPR (American Red Cross or equivalent).
• Must attend OK State Health Department Pool Operator Class
• Previous experience in pool management, recreation, or a related field.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of pool maintenance systems and water safety regulations.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to spend long periods outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
