What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part Time Youth Soccer Official position at City of Elgin, IL?
CLASSIFICATION DESCRIPTION
Under the direction and supervision of the Athletic Supervisor, this part time seasonal position will be responsible for refereeing soccer games for the Parks and Recreation Youth Soccer League.
GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK
- Referee youth soccer games as assigned.
- Provide leadership to work effectively with the public, program participants, volunteer coaches, and families.
- Keep accurate records/reports and complete all written records as required.
- Maintain program area in a safe and orderly fashion.
- Inspect the soccer fields prior to each game and report any unsafe environments to the Activity Supervisor on duty.
- Maintain a positive public image and attitude with good public relations and customer service.
- Wear appropriate official’s uniform.
- Attend all pre-season official’s meetings and trainings.
- Abide by all City of Elgin rules and regulations as outlined in the Employee Manual.
- Must pass a drug and background check.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Minimum 14 years of age with prior demonstrated successful experience related to soccer officiating or to the game of soccer.
- Ability to work pleasantly with participants, volunteer coaches and fellow employees.
- Ability to enforce all rules and policies of the City of Elgin at the facility in a diplomatic manner.
- US Soccer License or Equivalent.
- Must possess sufficient stamina to work under all types of weather conditions. Running is required.
- Regular attendance is an essential function of this role.
- 14 and 15 year olds must obtain a work permit.

Hours: Varied; based on game schedule. Seasonal: April-June and August-October.
