CLASSIFICATION DESCRIPTION
Under direction, reviews and issues building permits; coordinates interdepartmental review of proposed construction plans; computes and collects fees for issuance; may testify at court hearings relative to the issuance of permits.
GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK
This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires reaching, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of machines, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside environmental conditions. Regular attendance is an essential function of the position.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the basic principles and practices of community planning; community development programs and procedures; data collection methods and techniques related to social, economic, environmental, and physical planning. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public. Demonstrative knowledge of the use and application of MS Office Suite and electronic mail systems.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate’s degree with major coursework in geography, urban planning, public administration, or related field.
This is a union position. Schedule is Monday - Friday. 40 hours per week.
Pay grade 519. External hires start at Step 1 of the pay grade.
