JOB
Performs intermediate skilled clerical work and traffic enforcement work; does related work as required. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Police Chief. This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires stooping, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word, and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for depth perception, color perception, peripheral vision, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of machines, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Inputting incident reports; monitoring parking violations; issuing citations; directing school zone traffic.Inputting daily incident reports and arrest records on to computer;Monitors vehicles for violation of downtown parking laws;Issues tickets to downtown parking violators;Prepares and mails notices to persons who have not paid parking fines;Distributes mail, picks up office supplies and delivers cars to garage;Directs traffic in school crossing zones;Assists school children in crossing street;Performs related tasks as required.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and considerable computer input clerical experience. Possession of a valid North Carolina operator's license.
