Essential Functions/Typical Tasks
- Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervises, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
- Supervises and participates in landscaping and park maintenance and related tasks.
- Discusses job requirements with and receives detailed instruction from supervisor.
- Supervises and participates in grass mowing activities in the municipal parks.
- Trains employees in safe and proper use of equipment.
- Coordinates work with other City departments.
- Supervises and participates in planting of trees, shrubs, grass, flowers and plants.
- Operates tractor, backhoe and other small motor equipment.
- Enforces safety regulations.
- Assists with special events.
- Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Performs heavy work that involves constantly lifting, shoveling, and carrying 35 to 50 pounds on a regular and recurring basis and exerting 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
- Involves routine and frequent exposure to:
- Bright/dim light; Dusts and pollen.
- Extreme heat and/or cold; Wet or humid conditions.
- Extreme noise levels, Animals/wildlife.
- Must possess and maintain an appropriate, valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
