The purpose of this job is to provide semi-skilled work in the collection of solid waste.This position works under close supervision according to set procedures.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary. Collects municipal solid waste and trash; performing public works and related tasks as assigned.Moves cans or containers placed for collection and dumps into trucks and operates packer equipment.Cleans area around cans.Directs traffic and guides truck operator in congested areas.Picks up limbs, leaves and other refuse.Picks up paper, debris and litter on public property.Cleans refuse truck and equipment.Spots for driver when necessary.Performs public works and utilities tasks as assigned.Drives garbage truck in absence of regular driver.Assists in performance of preventive maintenance on garbage truck.Performs related work as required.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.Must possess, or obtain within 6 months, and maintain an appropriate, valid state commercial driver’s license (CDL) with an acceptable driving history.
