Description:
The City of Elk River seeks a highly motivated and physically fit individual to assist with snow removal activities throughout the city. As a Winter Public Works Laborer, you will play a vital role in maintaining safe and accessible sidewalks and outdoor skating rinks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform snow and ice removal duties, including shoveling, blowing, and plowing sidewalks and facilities.
- Operate light equipment, such as pickup trucks with plows and tractors with various attachments.
- Conduct regular inspections and report any problems on site immediately.
- Maintain outdoor ice rinks, including resurfacing and repairing boards and nets.
- Perform general maintenance activities, including tree trimming, equipment maintenance, and cleaning of snow removal equipment.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Class D MN driver's license and good driving record.
- Demonstrated ability to operate light equipment proficiently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Class B Commercial Drivers License with airbrake endorsement.
- Qualified snow removal experience or equivalent.
Work Schedule:
Normal hours of work are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Work outside of these hours may be required for snow removal. This is a seasonal position that will last as long as the successful candidate is available but no longer than six months.
Compensation:
The hourly pay rate for this position is $17.00 - $19.00 per hour DOQ.
