Associate Planner
Job Summary:
The City of Ellensburg seeks a full-time Associate Planner to join its Community Development team.
The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to ensure that development proposals and city properties comply with relevant regulations through timely, accurate, and impartial review and site inspections.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct application reviews and site inspections to ensure compliance with city, state, and federal regulations.
- Promote and support the community's vision for future growth by participating in the preparation and adoption of land use policies and plans.
- Perform a variety of planning work, including land use policies, plans, codes, and ordinances; assist in administration and enforcement of policies, land use permitting, environmental and critical area review, zoning, subdivision applications, and historic preservation.
- Make recommendations to senior staff regarding current and long-range planning activities.
- Support the department's planning division by responding to customer inquiries, processing planning permits, and assisting customers at the front counter.
- Work with City boards, commissions, and staff to develop land use policy.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Planning, Geography, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum three years of progressively responsible experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities of this position.
- Valid State Driver's License or ability to obtain one by time of hire; must maintain an insurable driving record.
- First Aid/CPR/AED certificate preferred.
