POSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision, performs operations and maintenance duties at the water treatment facilities.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Under general supervision, assists in operating the Treatment Plant to ensure compliance with the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act and the Colorado Primary Drinking Water Regulations.
- Provide support as needed to meet water quality and quantity demands by following instructions concerning plant operations based on plant specific operational guidelines set in place by the Operator in Responsible Charge (ORC).
- Support in monitoring the performance of all equipment associated with the treatment process by conducting routine visual inspections, interpreting instrument readings, and performing daily rounds as directed.
- Trains on and participates in the following:
- Collects samples from source water, treatment facilities and distribution system. Perform lab analyses and report the results to ORC to make process adjustments accordingly.
- Calculates and determines optimum dosages of chemicals used in the treatment
- Operates and interprets the SCADA
- Maintain daily records, including water production, chemical usage and equipment run
- Starts and stops pumps and operates valves to control and adjust flow and processes either manually or by remote control.
- Reports process and equipment status to other operators and supervisors on a regular basis verbally and in writing.

PREPARATION AND TRAINING
Education
- High School Diploma or GED.
Work Experience
- Water Treatment Plant experience and certification are preferred but not required.
Required Driver’s License
- Valid Colorado Driver’s License and safe driving record.
An equivalent combination of education, training and relevant job experience may be substituted.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Computer Skills - Basic computer skills required to work in a technical environment.
Communication Skills – Good professional communication skills.
Mechanical Skills- Basic mechanical skills preferred
Mathematical Skills - Basic mathematical skills required for calculating chemical dosage, velocities, volumes, flows, demands, and pressure. Able to operate hand and power tools.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed in a plant environment. Works near moving mechanical parts; exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and various chemicals, some of which may be toxic. The employee is exposed to various conditions including noisy, hot, and cold conditions.
HOURLY RATE
$19.75 - $29.62/Hourly Rate
This is a seasonal position.
