POSITION PURPOSE: To enhance the quality of life of Enid residents and guests through the efficient operation of the City of Enid library and through the promotion of literacy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Maintains awareness of commonly used technologies and applies technology effectively for ongoing learning and collaboration.

- Deliver and retrieve items throughout the library by hand or using pushcart.
- Provide customer service to patrons to process card applications and/or collect lost/damaged book payments.
- Supply circulation desk with necessary forms.
- Oversee patron activities and notify supervisor of disruptions.
- Provides assistance to other departments as needed.
- Performs other duties as required.

- The Library division runs smoothly and efficiently. Work area is neat and orderly.
- Excellent customer service and guidance is provided to patrons of the Library.
- Efficient and effective processing, cataloging, and lending of library materials exists.
- The circulation desk/resource desk is adequately staffed and materials are handled according to established procedure.
- Effective working relations exist with City personnel.
- New employees are well trained and assisted. Management is appropriately informed.
- Employee understands and adheres to applicable safety policies.
- The City’s professional reputation is maintained.
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
CERTIFICATION/LICENCES
Oklahoma Department of Libraries (ODL) Public Librarian Certification within one year.
Continuing education to maintain ODL certification.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
English Language: Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Customer and Personal Service: Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Specialized: Dewey Decimal Classification System, Oklahoma Law regarding confidentiality of library records. Knowledge of Boolean searching and/or other equivalent search techniques to carry out effective and timely searches.
Computer: Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record-keeping, routine database basic word processing, and common mobile devices.
Communication: Knowledge of communication methods and techniques. This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, or visual media.
Critical Thinking: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions. Must have analytical ability, and problem solving skills.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:

WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS:
Part-time: Variable, 28 hours per week.
Hours of operation are Monday – Thursday 8:30 AM – :00 PM, Friday 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM, Saturday 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.
Other–Variable lunch period and breaks in coordination with other office personnel.
WORK CONDITIONS:
Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
NOISE LEVEL:
Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).

Associate’s Degree or equivalent in related field.
Level I and II OK Certification from Public Libraries.

Ability to fill in for Programming Coordinator for short periods.
Conversational Spanish.
Valid CPR certification.
ADVANCED
6 years experience.
Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
Develop and implement improved methods and procedures.
Ability to work in more than two areas of library specialty.
Advanced internal and external computer applications.
Ability to fill in for Programming Coordinator for extended periods.
Bilingual.
Participation in related local, state, or national committee.
