This position is responsible for ensuring safety for patrons using facilities; monitoring pool areas, responding quickly to emergencies, assisting with pool maintenance tasks; assisting with cleaning and maintaining the facility, including pool deck and locker rooms. Conducting routine checks on equipment, pool water quality, and overall quality.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
MAJOR DUTIES· Monitor and ensure the safety of pool guests by actively scanning the area.· Respond promptly to emergencies, providing first aid, CPR, or other emergency care as needed.· Enforce all safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents or injuries.· Maintain a clean and safe swimming environment by inspecting pool equipment, water quality, and surroundings.· Provide clear communication to guests regarding safety procedures, pool rules, and emergency exits.· Assist with the opening and closing of the facility, including setup and cleanup of equipment.· Participate in regular training sessions to maintain certification in lifeguarding, first aid, and CPR.· Complete and maintain accurate incident reports for any accidents or injuries.· Assist with crowd control during peak hours or special events.· Provide excellent customer service by answering questions and addressing concernsSUPERVISORY CONTROLSThe Senior Lifeguard and Aquatics Supervisor assigns work in terms of general instructions. The Senior Lifeguard spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures and the nature and propriety of the final results.GUIDELINESGuidelines include city and department policies and procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application.COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORKThis position is responsible for supervising swimming pool operations and aquatic programs and activities; perform a variety of technical tasks related to the administration and promotion of aquatic and swimming pool operations.CONTACTS· Contacts are typically with coworkers, participants, and the general public.· Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, resolve problems, and provide services.PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENTFrequently required to swim, walk, sit, talk, and hear. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.· Possess certifications in First Aid and CPR and Red Cross Lifeguard certification· Ability to be on-call and work nonstandard hours, nights, holidays and weekends as needed.· Possess a valid Alabama driver’s license.· Must meet City of Enterprise physical standards which include drug and alcohol testing
