What are the responsibilities and job description for the Water/Wastewater Skilled Laborer position at City of Escanaba?
The City of Escanaba is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Skilled Laborer in the Water/Wastewater Department. Essential job functions include the following:
Identify, locate and repair leaks.
- Maintain, test and repair fire hydrants, stop gates, and other valves.
- Install and tap water service connections of various sizes.
- Install maintain, chlorinate and repair water mains.
- Maintain wells.
- Locate and mark buried distribution water lines and valves.
- Maintain records on valves, curb stops, and hydrants.
- Requisition materials and equipment.
- Communicate with customers regarding service interruptions and related issues.
- Restore streets lawns and sidewalks after excavation.
- Perform Customer Service work as required.
- Perform maintenance at both water and wastewater plants.
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma and a valid Michigan Driver’s license. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Class A CDL with tanker endorsement within six (6) months of hire.
